Ready Cash Upset In France
French trotter Ready Cash was unable to complete his quest for perfection in the four Prix d'Amerique prep races
.
The reigning Prix d'Amerique champion won his first three prep races for this year’s event including the Prix de Bretagne, Prix de Bourbonnais and the Prix de Bourgogne, but had to settle for the show spot in the 2,850 metre Prix de Belgique on Sunday afternoon at Paris-Vincennes.
Facing a 25 metre starting handicap amidst the field of 15 starters, Ready Cash and regular reinsman Franck Nivard advanced on the outside from the trailing position just to the outside of leader Roc Meslois (Pierre Belloche). The son of The Indy de Vive and Kidea took over command before the home stretch, but couldn't hold off a pair of late-closers. The lightly raced Royal Dream (Jean Phillipe Dubois) swept by to win in a mile rate of 1:58 with Roxane Griff (Eric Raffin) getting up for second over Ready Cash.
