Miss Onager Claiming Series Starts

Fraser Downs' Friday night harness racing program kicked off with a pair of $5,000 Miss Onager Claiming Series divisions in which Shes Rarin and Kg Tigress delivered winning performances

In the first division for $4,500 claiming mares, Dan Ingram's Shes Rarin, with Tim Brown in the sulky, advanced to command from third after the :28.1 opening quarter and cruised past middle stations of :57 and 1:26.2 en route to her 1:57.1 one and a quarter length triumph. Hi Ho Serenade (Brad Watt), the longest shot on the board at odds of 26-1, came on for second, while Laughs Last (Kevin Anderson) closed well for third.

The nine-year-old Rambaran mare paid $7.40 to win as the 5-2 favourite in the six-horse field. The victory was her second in a row and 35th lifetime, pushing his earnings over the $100,000 mark.

Fresh off a win and a close second-place effort in her two previous starts, Keith Clark's Kg Tigress sat third through fractions of :27.4, :56.3, and 1:26.2 before kicking home to prevail by two lengths over the popular pacesetter, Red Star Brooklyn (Scott Knight), in 1:57.3. Chica Caliente (Dave Hudon) trailed the five-horse field for most of the mile before coming on to show.

The five-year-old daughter of Artsplace paid $6.40 to win as 2-1 second choice. She now sports 12 victories on her lifetime record and over $50,000 in earnings.

The early 'Miss Onager' Daily Double paid $16.70 for the winning 3-2 combination of Shes Rarin and Kg Tigress.

The series will continue next weekend.
