Harmon Wins GLADA Trot
Lauren Harmon rallied Next Woman Up to a 1:58.1 mile to win the $7,500 GLADA Trot over Jasmin Arnold and Rockefella Lindy Sunday night (April 24) at Northfield Park.
It was the first time this season that the ladies finished one-two in the year-long series and the third seasonal driving victory for the talented Harmon.
The race was inundated with early speed supplied by a :27.1 first quarter clocking by Eddie Miller with Lady Eagle, and they still had command when they passed the half in :57. At that point, the trailers looked to advance, but Lady Eagle still was in charge. Jasmin Arnold was the first to move with Rockefeller Lindy, the odds-on favourite, and they gained command as the field rounded the final turn and headed for home. But at that point, Harmon had Next Woman Up in high gear. They joined Arnold and their charges battled down the stretch all the way to the wire before Next Woman Up gained command and rallied to a 1-1/2-length win. Third place went to Dynamin Edge, driven by Don Sherman.
Next Woman Up, is a seven-year-old daughter of Manofmanymissions and is trained by Charlie Myrick. She paid $29.60 for the win.
