Scene A Magician Strikes Again In Preferred
Scene A Magician collared the front-striding Power And Grace at the wire for a mild upset to kick off the mid-April Friday night card at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Scene A Magician made an appearance in the London, Ont. winner's circle for the second straight week after taking the featured $13,000 Preferred 2 Handicap Trot in a season's best 1:58.1 for driver Garrett Rooney and trainer/owner Jennifer Pinkerton.
The eight-year-old Daylon Magician gelding rallied three-wide off cover turning for home and and caught the popular mare, Power And Grace (Brett MacDonald), who had posted fractions of :28.1, :59 and 1:27.4. Scene A Magician's winning margin was a neck, again defeating Power And Grace with second choice Willyorwonthe (Colin Kelly) finishing a length behind in third.
The back-to-back winner returned $15.60 at the betting windows.
Scene A Magician now sports a seasonal summary reading 4-3-3 from a dozen starts with his 2022 earnings topping the $40,000 mark. Lifetime, he boasts 24 victories and is closing in on $300,000 in purses.
