Laila Blue Best In London Feature
The five-year-old Art Major mare Laila Blue cleared command from the outermost post and kept control at every pole to post a 1:56.4 victory in the $9,000 featured pace at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Wednesday (April 13).
Driver Travis Henry hustled Laila Blue to the top out of post six with Ladies From Hell following suit to land in the pocket to a :29 first quarter. With the tempo tepid to a :59 half, Top Royal tipped first-over out of third and advanced to match strides with the pacesetter as the field accelerated to three-quarters in 1:27.1. Laila Blue rebuffed that challenge around the final turn and came into the straightaway in hand to cross the beam a length better than Ladies From Hell. Mywishlistforyou rallied from second-over for third while Top Royal settled for fourth.
Owned and trained by Douglas Good, Laila Blue won her second race from eight starts this season and her seventh from 61 overall, lifting her lifetime earnings to $97,678. She paid $5 to win.
