Charlie May Makes 2022 Debut
World record holder Charlie May made his much anticipated return to the racetrack in a qualifying mile on Friday (April 8) at Miami Valley Raceway.
With regular pilot Brett Miller at the controls, the popular four-year-old made every call a winning one while facing seven rivals. After a :29.3 opening quarter, Charlie May fronted the field through fractions of :58.4 and 1:27.1 before pacing home in :28.2 to win comfortably in 1:55.3 nearly two lengths the best.
A homebred of Don Tiger, Charlie May (McArdle - Stipple Hanover) sports a career summary of 17-8-1 from 31 lifetime starts with more than $1.2 million in earnings and a mark of 1:48.4 taken at Northfield Park last year. The half-mile track world champion is one of 28 four-year-olds eligible to the 2022 Charles Juravinski Memorial (formerly the Confederation Cup), with that race set to take place in just over a month's time at Flamboro Downs.
