Alex Having Fun Fires In London
Launching from off cover, 7-5 favourite Alex Having Fun stormed to the lead late to capture the $13,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred 2 & 3 Handicap Pace on Tuesday (April 5) at The Raceway at Western Fair District.
Racemup protected position from the pylon post to lead the field to a :27 first quarter while keeping the tempo hot to a :55.4 half. Clever Character angled first-over from fourth with a lap to go, and driver Brett MacDonald tipped Alex Having Fun to track that one’s cover into the backside. MacDonald soon swung the five-year-old Rock N Roll Heaven gelding three-wide to three-quarters in 1:24.1 and loomed nearer to Racemup off the corner before downing that rival by a half-length at the end of a 1:54 mile. Kwik Talkin closed for third and Clever Character settled for fourth.
Trained by Richard Moreau for owners Ecurie CSL and Gaston Bibeau, Alex Having Fun won his third race from nine starts this season and his 16th from 67 overall, lifting his lifetime earnings to $124,434. He paid $4.70 to win.
