Tiempo Hanover Tops Fraser Open
Trainer/driver Brandon Campbell, as part of a conditioning hat trick on the Sunday (April 3) card, steered his pupil Tiempo Hanover to a 1:53.4 victory in the $10,000 Horses & Geldings Open Pace at Fraser Downs.
Parked past a :26.4 first quarter, Tiempo Hanover cleared command from Armycaptin Hanover passing the stands the first time and slowed the tempo to the half in :57.2. The eight-year-old Western Ideal gelding then accelerated up the backside as Outlaw C My Shadow ventured first-over to apply pressure on the pacesetter to three-quarters in 1:25.2. But Outlaw C My Shadow stalled off the corner while Armycaptin Hanover fired from the pocket after the leader late, though Tiempo Hanover held firm on the point to the finish to win by a half-length. Armycaptin Hanover took second, Outlaw C My Shadow settled for third and Pureform Mr Toffee took fourth.
Owned by Jodi Loftus, Dana Shore and Raymond Henry, Tiempo Hanover won his fifth race from eight starts this season and his 26th from 145 overall. The winner's share of the purse bumped his bankroll to $239,100 lifetime. He paid $4.80 to win and was the second on the day for Campbell, who also steered trainees Buddy Light ($3.60) and Annasfeatherfoot ($7.90) to victory.
Trainer Jim Marino also scored a hat trick on the afternoon. He sent Yjuliahos ($5.10), Major Winker ($5.10) and Souldust ($3.40) to victory.
