Five Straight For Uptown Hanover
The betting public blasted away at Uptown Hanover in Monday’s main event at Fraser Downs – the $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open – and she wasn’t about to let her army of backers down.
Trainer/driver Kelly Hoerdt got away second with the 2-5 favourite while Mrs Suhwiggins shot to the top and carved out an opening quarter clocked in :28.3. Hoerdt had Uptown Hanover on the hustle on the way to the half, and they made a powerful brush to the lead before the mid-way point.
She touched down on the lead and went on to post middle fractions of :57.4 and 1:25 before using a :28-second final frame to win by a half-length margin over Moosette in 1:53. Rockin Mystery rallied from last to third in the featured tilt.
The four-year-old daughter of Somebeachsomewhere-Upside Surprise, who is owned by Hoerdt and Carole Dunbar of Richardson, SK, now owns a record of 6-1-0 from seven trips postward this season. The 11-time winner has managed to stash away over $186,000 to date.
