Miller Scores In GLADA Trot

Harness Racing at Northfield Park

Bold Strategy went a gutsy race winning the $7,500 GLADA Trot on Sunday (March 27) at Northfield Park. With Eddie Miller at the controls, the veteran trotter was victorious in 1:56.3.

After starting from post three and trailing early, Miller moved his charge off the pylons after a :28 first quarter and headed toward the lead. Although he was going forward, Miller found his trotter still four lengths behind Golden Genes, who was clear on the front when he passed the halfway point in :57.3

When the field headed up the backside, Miller — still on the rim — worked his way closer to the leader but was still two lengths behind Golden Genes who was 35-1 on the tote board. When the field rounded the final turn and headed for home, Bold Strategy had collared the leader. And in the deep stretch, he began to pull away to win by a length over Golden Genes in 1:56.2. Four lengths farther back in third was Lauren Harmon with Emerald Chip.

Bold Strategy, a five-year-old Break The Bank K gelding, is owned by Rebecca Sugg, Mary Stucky and Watson Harness Racing.  He paid just $2.80 for the win.
