Ultimate Yankee Inherits CDP Victory

Ultimate Yankee, with Kenny Arsenault in the bike, was placed the winner of the Saturday afternoon feature race at Red Shores Racetrack & Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park

. The time of the mile was 1:57.3. Oakrock Almighty, driven by Ron Matheson, won the race but was placed second on an interference call. Blue Star Outlaw and Jason Hughes finished third.

The judges posted the inquiry sign on the infield toteboard as they examined the action as the field approached the three-quarter pole. Blue Star Outlaw was leading the race with Oakrock Almighty sitting second and Ultimate Yankee third moving up on the outside of the field. Matheson moved his horse to the outside lane pushing Ultimate Yankee three-wide and the judges ruled he caused interference.

The win gave Ultimate Yankee back-to-back victories and his fourth from five starts since returning to pari-mutuel racing action after an 11 month layoff for trainer Robert Laffin and his ownership group consisting of the Ultimate Stable and Dawn Hubbard of Greater Lakeburn, N.B.

Kenny Arsenault, Corey MacPherson and Mark Cullen recorded driving doubles on the card. Cullen's first win came aboard Dunmore Alpha, a 2:02.3 victor in the trot class. The trotter has won his last three in a row for owner-trainer Teddy Smallwood of Stratford, P.E.I.

I would like to thank the C.D.P. and Red Shores for now allowing H.P.I. members on P.E.I. a chance to place wagers on our home track. I do try to get to most live cards as possible, however with other responsibilities, there are times that it is not possible. I want to support my track and can do so from home now when being there is not an option. I feel the online wager can only help our betting pools. This is coming from a harness racing fan of almost 40 years.

Thanks Again
Dave Watts
