Harrington Season Opens April 11
Harrington Raceway’s 76th season of live harness racing will commence on April 11 with a three-day weekly schedule for much of the 65-day meet.
Live racing will be conducted Monday through Wednesday for most of the meet, save for the last week of June and first week of July and August. There will be a customary break in July and early August for the Delaware State Fair, before the season resumes on August 15 and runs through October 19. Post time nightly will be 4:30 p.m., except for the July 28 (7 p.m.) card. A complete race calendar can be found at harringtonraceway.com.
The annual Governor’s Day program (July 28) during the Delaware State Fair is the year’s richest program with more than $600,000 in total purses, highlighted by Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) final events for three-year-olds.
Two-time meet leading driver Allan Davis and 2021 training champ Chuck Crissman Jr. are expected to be back defending their crowns in addition to a deep pool of regional drivers and trainers on the circuit.
Trackside dining will return as the clubhouse area will be open. Patrons may order in Murphy’s Race and Sports Book (adjacent to the clubhouse) and dine trackside. Seating will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Horsepeople are reminded that applications are available online at harringtonraceway.com. Applications are due back by March 30.
Longtime horsemen’s bookkeeper Ed Layton retired at the end of 2021. Horsemen seeking information on 1099-forms or direct deposit (ACH) information are urged to contact Karen Craft, who will be handling those duties at 302-398-5910.
