Dunachton Gale Returns To Victory Lane
It didn't take the two-time winner of Atlantic Canada's Horse of Year title very long to find his way back to the winner's circle – only two starts, in fact.
Dunachton Gale, who was making his second start of the season earlier this afternoon at Truro Raceway, stepped to an impressive 1:55.1 victory in a $1,700 conditioned event for trainer/driver Phil Pinkney.
The seven-year-old son of Drop Off used off-the-pace tactics to prevail in the seven-horse affair. Henschke A, who set most the pace, held on to finish second. Samspace, the upset winner in last weekend's Johnny Conroy Memorial, rounded out the top three.
Caneast Standards Inc. of Berwick, NS owns the classy campaigner, who has put together a 47-for-75 record while banking in excess of $214,000 in his career.
Despite being forced to settle for the runner-up award with Henschke A, trainer/driver Darren Crowe had a productive day at Truro Raceway. His stable sent out three winners.
Solana M (1:59.3) got the ball rolling with a win in Race 5, and Crowe followed up with Westward Vision (1:59.1) in Race 9 and Prince Alexander (2:02.1) in Race 13.
