Miller Wins GLADA Trot
Despite getting locked-in Eddie Miller found daylight in the deep stretch and rallied Thisisshe to a 1:59.4 victory in the $9,200 Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA) Trot Sunday night (Feb. 27) at Northfield Park.
After starting from the pole post, Miller yielded command as Larry Ferrari zipped Impressive Chief to the lead, which left Emerald Chip (Lauren Harmon) and Fingals Wave (Don Sherman) caught on the rim in a :29 first quarter.
Ferrari grabbed leather and allowed Emerald Chip to take the lead and he led the field to the half in :58.1 with Fingals Wave still parked. At three-quarters, Emerald Chip was still battling Fingals Wave as Eddie Miller and Thisisshe were desperately looking for daylight. Miller finally got a shot at the leaders in the stretch and he strongly urged his mare and she responded. But she had four lengths to make up before the finish, which she did with a late rally when she charged past Emerald Chip before the finish line to score a head win in 1:59.4. Fingals Wave held on for third.
Thisisshe is a seven-year-old daughter of My MVP. She is trained by Herman Hagerman for owner Terrance Smith. Sent the favourite in the race, she paid $4 for win.
