Moments Of Joy Reaches At Dover
Moments Of Joy ($5.40) rode the pocket to a 1:52 victory in Wednesday's (Feb. 9) $16,000 winners-over feature for pacing mares at Dover Downs.
Feeling Sweet rolled to the lead from the outside post, working to clear Moments Of Joy through a :26.1 first quarter. After exerting early to gain control of the terms, Feeling Sweet baked the half down to :55.1 and evaded a first-over challenge from Disturbed Hanover through three-quarters in 1:23.2. Meanwhile, Victor Kirby waited patiently in the pocket with Moments Of Joy, and the pair surged to the fore up the open stretch to win by a neck in 1:52. Feeling Sweet (Mike Cole) was a game second; Disturbed Hanover (Barton Dalious) stayed on for third.
Bryan Truitt owns and trains Moments Of Joy, an eight-year-old Western Terror mare.
Tim Tetrick led all drivers with four wins on the card; Tony Morgan won three.
Tarkio looks to repeat in Thursday's (Feb. 10) Blue Hen/Open Handicap Pace, carded as race 12, while Sugartown highlights the Winners Over/Select Pace, scheduled as race 10. First post time is 4:30 p.m.
