Brewer One Short Of A Six-Pack

Driver Jason Brewer couldn't be beat on Tuesday afternoon's card at Western Fair, appearing in five drives and winning them all including the card's feature race

After butting heads with the province's best three-year-old pacing fillies and then moving up to compete against the best pacing mares in the country, Camille found some welcome class relief in Western Fair's $12,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace. Driver Jason Brewer settled favoured Camille into fourth while P Note Blue Chip (Jon Drury) hustled out to a :28.3 opening quarter. Once the field settled, Brewer committed Camille to the outer flow and stalked the pacesetter through the :58.4 half. These two mares stepped it up and Camille managed to get with a nose of P Note Blue Chip as three-quarters flashed up in 1:28 before powering past in mid-stretch for the 1:58 win. Pathtodover (Doug Bowins) closed strongly to edge out P Note Blue Chip for second.

A homebred owned by Larry Pollard of Harrow, Ont., Camille (Camluck - Art Of Design) will end her 2011 campaign with five wins and more than $224,000 in earnings in 21 starts.

While Camille notched her fifth win of the season, Brewer was also thinking in terms of fives. He had five drives and won them all, connecting with Lucky George in Race 4, Thats What I Do in Race 6, Oyster Bed Mary in Race 7, and Carsons Ladyluck in Race 10. The five-bagger puts Brewer at 155 wins on the season.
