Update On Jennifer Baxter

Trot Insider recently received an update on longtime harness racing industry participant Jennifer Baxter.

A familiar face at racetracks in Ontario from her days working for Bob & Doug McIntosh, Baxter and her husband Joe raced horses from their own stable throughout Ontario until relocating back to Nova Scotia and continuing to participate there.

The Baxters have raised a family of three children in Nova Scotia while sharing a love of the horses. Recently, however, their lives have been rocked with the news that Jenn has been diagnosed with terminal cancer.

"Jen and Joe have always lived by the saying 'we may not have the best of everything, but we always make the best of everything,'" friend Nicole MacQuarrie told Trot Insider, noting that a GoFundMe page has been established to help the family. "This is a family that is always happy to give a helping hand whenever they can."

According to the GoFundMe page, Baxter fought a hard battle with chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. Unfortunately, nine months after the surgery a cancerous tumor has developed and she has been given three to four months to live.
