Yanks Dugout Dashes At Dover
Yanks Dugout cruised to victory in the Winners Over/Select Trot at Dover Downs on Tuesday night (Jan. 25).
Yanks Dugout competed against the best trotters at Yonkers Raceway in his last start. The victory was well worth the trip to Dover Downs.
Yanks Dugout and driver Corey Callahan took no prisoners and took command of the racetrack from the start. They set fractions of :27.1, :56.2 and 1:25.1.
Remarkable De Vie mounted a charge up the backstretch racing first over. Our White Knight followed second over on the outside, but both stalled in their bids. Jack Vernon and driver Tim Tetrick followed from the pocket position but could not gain on the leader Yanks Dugout.
Yanks Dugout drew off in the stretch and won by three lengths. He trotted the mile in 1:54 and paid $3.40 as the betting choice.
Yanks Dugout (Triumphant Caviar-Yansky-Muscles Yankee) is owned by Ivan L. and John Duke Sugg of Ohio. Ron Burke, the newest inductee into the Harness Racing Hall Of Fame, trained and Corey Callahan drove.
Jack Vernon sat in the pocket and finished second for trainer Dylan Davis. Tim Tetrick drove. Whimzical Chapter was third for trainer Josh Green and driver Victor Kirby.
Corey Callahan won four races on the betting card.
Soho Burning Love A, Scuola Hanover and Shes Pukka N headline the $25,000 Mares Open Pace on Wednesday night.
There is a $2,509 Pentafecta carry over on the 12th race on Wednesday (Jan. 26).
