Meadowlands Chili Cook-Off Rescheduled

Due to the potential Nor’easter forecasted to hit the Northeast this weekend, the Meadowlands Chili Cook-Off Winter Edition has been rescheduled to Saturday, Feb. 5.

All rules, regulations and timing will remain the same for February 5. 

As of January 25, 20 contestants are registered to compete for the $1,000 Traditional Red grand prize while 15 contestants are entered in the Salsa category, with a $500 grand prize.  Both grand prize winners will earn a spot in the International Chili Society’s Annual World Championship Chili Cook-off in their categories.

There are also cash prizes for the runners up in each category:

Traditional Red Chili:

•  $1,000 Grand Prize plus a spot in the ICS's World Championship Traditional Red Chili Cook-off 
•  $500 - 2nd
•  $250 - 3rd 

Salsa:

• $500 Grand Prize plus a spot in the ICS's World Championship Salsa Category 
•  $250 - 2nd
• $100 - 3rd 

People’s Choice:

• $250 

Racetrack guests are also welcome to be part of the fun.  They are encouraged to sample the chili and vote for their favourite.  The fan favourite cook will walk away with the $250 prize.  Fan favourite voting begins 7 p.m.; voting tickets will be available in the chili cook off area. 

As an added bonus, fans can enjoy live harness racing with first race post time at 6:20 p.m.
