The Little Horse That Could

"He's a little machine. He's got such explosive speed... He loves to work and he loves to play."

K T Loudnproud is a lightly raced four-year-old homebred son of Cavalier Semalu, from the Freedoms Pass mare Battle River Rose. Owned and bred by Kal Dryden and Judy Lord, the little horse that could has been doing it and doing it well lately at Northlands Park.

November 27, 2009, would be the day 'K T' would debut at Northlands where he would capture his maiden voyage in 2:01.4 - coming from well off the pace to score at 35-1 odds with Brent Grundy aboard. Two years later, 'K T' still loves to come from off the pace, but he's gotten much better at doing so and he's been getting lots of respect on the track.

Up until mid-November of this year 'K T' had been racing at the conditioned claiming level for a tag of $8,000, but he now finds himself racing without a price as he climbs the class ladder. K T Loudnproud is currently on a three-race win streak while taking a new mark of 1:56.1 in the process.

"He's just a nice little horse with a very big motor," added trainer-driver Gerry Hudon. K T Loudnproud now has eight wins, three seconds and four thirds from 24 career starts - good for $31,690 in lifetime earnings.
