Racino, Race-Date, Lebanon News In OH
If you're in Ohio and are hoping to play slot machines at racetracks at all hours of the night once the gaming expansion comes to fruition, you may soon be in luck
.
According to a report by cincinnati.com, the Ohio Lottery Commission this week passed a rule, albeit tentative, which will allow racinos to offer gaming 24-7. The rule does state, though, that the tracks are not mandated to operate around the clock.
The 'we never close' approach to gaming offerings at the raceways would allow the racinos to be on equal footing with their casino cousins. The rule still has to get the green light from the state legislature's Joint Committee on Agency Rule Review.
The report also touches on House Bill 386, which is currently making its way through the legislature. The piece of legislation would requires racetracks to conduct at least 75 live racing days in 2013, 100 in 2014 and 125 in 2015 and thereafter.
The article concludes by stating that HB 386 would also see a previous law repealed. The law would have allowed Lebanon Raceway to relocate. Instead, the bill calls for the state to sell a maximum of 120 acres of land to the track for $4.5 million.
