Horsemen Help Raise $10K For Charity
Dover Downs horsemen, friends of racing, along with administrators and principals of the Capital School District in Dover, Delaware teamed up to help the needy during the 2011 Christmas season
, the second year of the project.
Again this year, The Horsemen’s Welfare Fund, organized and directed by Dover Downs trainer Janet Davis, and a combined effort, raised more than $10,000 for the campaign.
The money collected will go to many needy families in the Dover area. Money purchases toys for children and turkeys for needy families this season. Food and gifts are also directed to The People’s Place, a shelter for the abused, and other local women’s and men’s shelters in the area.
