Macdonald Re-appointed ORC Commissioner
Ontario Racing Commission Chair Rod Seiling announced on Thursday, December 15 that the Government of Ontario has re-appointed John W. Macdonald, Q.C. of Toronto as a member of the Ontario Racing Commission
for a period of three years, effective December 1, 2011.
MacDonald was first named to the ORC Board in 2009.
Called to the bar in 1962 and awarded the distinction of a Queen’s Counsel in 1979, Macdonald is a lawyer with experience in general practice, primarily of a corporate and commercial nature, including clients that race, breed and sell horses.
“John’s service as a commissioner --- and particularly as a panel member --- has been a great asset to the ORC,” said Seiling. “Participants have benefited from his first-hand knowledge of horse racing and his abiding sense of fairness. I look forward to this record of service continuing.”
