Online Sports Wagering Cut From Bill
According to a report, residents of New Jersey will probably not be given the opportunity to wager on sporting events, besides horse racing, online in the future
.
An article by John Brennan in The Record has quoted NJ Senator Ray Lesniak --- sponsor of a bill for expanded gaming in the state --- as saying that he has "caved" in regard to the online sports wagering aspect of the bill.
NJ Governor Chris Christie, who has publicly supported the Lesniak bill which passed a statewide referendum earlier this fall, has been quoted as saying that he had “concerns about the bill the way it’s currently configured.”
The report states that a revised version of Lesniak's bill is to hit Gov. Christie's desk some time in January, 2012.
