Ready Cash Returns Impressively
After five months of stallion duty, trotting powerhouse Ready Cash tuned up for a defense of the Prix d’Amerique with a convincing win in Prix de Bourbonnais
.
The second of French trotting's "Prix de B races" - a group of four leading up to the Prix d'Amerique where the winners receive an automatic invitation, Saturday's Prix de Bourbonnais featured 18 of harness racing's top trotters in a 1-3/4 mile race. Ready Cash was handicapped 25 metres from the “standing start” but it didn't affect his performance. Driver Franck Nivard calmly eased his horse into the race, eventually attacking the leader Sévérino around the final turn and sitting behind the pacesetter to save for the stretch. That move proved valuable as Ready Cash was able to best Severino by a half-length in a mile rate time of 1:56.65.
The Prix du Bourbonnais generated a total win handle of over $1.1 million US.
