Camblazer Cruises In Fraser Open
Trainer/driver Dave Hudon drove Camblazer like he was the best in Friday’s $12,500 Open Pace at Fraser Downs, and Hudon’s tactical approach paid off handsomely as the gelding front-stepped to a 1:53 upset score
over race favourite Primary Purpose.
Camblazer and Primary Purpose battled to the quarter in a :27-second clip before the latter muscled his way to the top. It turned out to be a brief lead for Primary Purpose, however, as Hudon was right back out of the pocket in a matter of strides looking for to re-take command.
Camblazer accelerated to the top and proceeded to successfully chop out splits of :56 and 1:24.3 before using a :28.2 closing quarter to win by a length over Primary Purpose, with At Last taking home third prize.
Bill Boden of Vancouver, BC owns the five-year-old son of Camcracker-Squeaker Hanover, who improved this season’s record to 3-1-2 from 16 assignments. The 14-time winner has stashed away more than $213,000 to date.
