Hanover Revises 2012 Stud Fees
With hopes that adjustments to stud fees for certain marquee stallions will help "stem the exodus" from the harness racing industry, Hanover Shoe Farms' President Jim Simpson announced several revisions to the recently released 2012 stud fees for Hanover stallions
.
“In view of the general problems facing the economy in general and the horse breeding industry in particular and with the concurrence of our partners and syndicate shareholders we have decided to lower the stud fees of several of our stallions for the 2012 breeding season," said Simpson in a release issued on Tuesday. "The breeding business is difficult in normal times. We feel that in this trying economic climate it is incumbent among us to try to serve the needs of our clients. Too many breeders have left the business in recent years."
The following stallions service fees for 2012 have been adjusted:
Cams Card Shark from $7,500 to $5,000
Cantab Hall from $15,000 to $7,500
Dragon Again from $7,500 to $6,000
Somebeachsomewhere from $20,000 to $15,000
Western Ideal from $15,000 to $10,000
