NY Gov. Wants Expanded Gaming

On Sunday, December 4, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced that he plans on pursuing the legalization of expanding gaming in the state

.

“We should pursue a comprehensive gaming plan — recognizing the reality that New York is already in the gaming business. Through this plan we can promote job creation and recapture revenue that is currently being lost to other states,” Cuomo was quoted as saying in an article by The Queens Courier.

The report has cited Cuomo as saying that the move would be a way to give both economic and job growth in the state a shot in the arm.

The article has also quoted New York Gaming Association President James Featherstonhaugh as saying, “We are pleased to hear of [the governor’s] support for legalizing enhanced commercial gaming in New York State, which will create tens of thousands of much-needed jobs, generate hundreds of millions in additional state revenues and stimulate significant private sector investment.”
