New Owners Buy Into The Game Plan
After having assembled a standout freshmen campaign, The Game Plan will probably be looking to add an O'Brien Award to his mantle this coming January. Although, before then, the son of Kadabra will be adding the names of a few more owners
to his racing profile.
In an article which has quoted the gelding's trainer, John Kopas, harnessracing.com has reported that Jerry and Theresa Silva have bought a 20 per cent piece of the multiple stakes winner.
The Game Plan's biggest win this season came September 17 at Mohawk Racetrack in the $469,000 William Wellwood Memorial, where he went to the lead early for driver Jack Moiseyev and held on for a head win in 1:55.2.
In total, The Game Plan banked $490,300 during his rookie season, one which saw him face the gate 13 times, record eight wins, two second-place efforts and one third.
Kopas told harnessracing.com that The Game Plan is, “…by far the best two-year-old trotter I’ve ever trained.”
The report also states that the gelding is not currently staked to two of harness racing's biggest races for sophomore trotters - the Hambletonian and the Kentucky Futurity, the latter of which is accessible via supplemental entry.
