Ladies Go Back-To-Back At Rideau

Marie Claude Auger and Riina Rekila did something rarely seen at a racetrack in North America. On Friday at Rideau Carleton Raceway, the two women scored training-driving wins on the same card and in consecutive races

Auger got the ball rolling in the 10th when she guided Sans Frontiere ($12.30) to a convincing four and a quarter length victory in 1:57. Powering by tiring rivals, the daughter of House of Fun-GJs Bayama scored her 11th win of the year in 24 starts, boosting her 2011 earnings to over $57,000.

Not to be outdone, Rekila made it back-to-back wins for the female pilots when she guided three-year-old trotting filly E L Glamour ($3.30) to a tactical win in the 11th. Rekila made it worth the drive to Ottawa by grabbing second over cover and running down Whitney Fields in late stretch. It was the fifth win in 10 starts for E L Glamour. The daughter of Yankee Glide–Cameron Hall crossed the line by a clear length in 2:01.
