NH Pols React To MA Expanded Gaming

It didn't take proponents of gaming expansion in New Hampshire long to react to the announcement that Massachusetts, the state directly to its south, will be introducing three casinos and one slot-machine emporium within its borders

.

House Bill 593, which is to be addressed in the New Hampshire House in January, 2012, calls for a pair of casinos to be introduced to the state. There has been a strong push in recent years to transform Salem's Rockingham Park into a racino.

With Massachusetts opting to give the green light for expanded gaming within its borders, the pressure has now been ratcheted up for New Hampshire to follow suit.

"If passed, this legislation will also ensure that a significant percentage of the millions of dollars New Hampshire residents currently spend out of state on gambling will remain here," Senator Chuck Morse has been quoted as saying in an article by the Patch Network.

Senator More was also quoted as saying, "We have a tremendous economic opportunity here that we simply cannot allow to just slip away."
