Go Go Solano Goes Back-To-Back
Fresh off matching the all-time track record at Vernon Downs one week ago, Go Go Solano started a hot streak with another victory on Saturday night in the Open Pace at Saratoga Raceway
.
The five-year-old Jordan Rubin trainee matched the Vernon record with a 1:49.4 effort on Nov. 12. It was the first victory of the year for Go Go Solano that did not take place at Saratoga.
The pacer had won all three legs of the Joe Gerrity Jr. Memorial Pacing Series this summer and prevailed in the Saratoga Open on October 1 as well prior to scoring in Saturday’s feature.
Greg Merton was in the sulky as Go Go Solano marched out to an easy lead and sprinted home in a back half of :55.3 to register the impressive win in the $16,000 Open. His final quarter of :27 is as fast of a final panel ever recorded at the track.
Yonkers invaders Pedro Island (Stephane Bouchard) and Life Up Front (Dan Cappello Jr) comprised the triple, which returned $55. Go Go Solano was the public’s resounding choice, prevailing at odds of 1-9.
The son of Bettors Delight, who has banked $620,415 lifetime, is owned by Richard Lombardo of Solon, Ohio and Howard Taylor of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
