Kenneth 'Kenny' Urquhart Passes
Truro Raceway Paddock Judge Kenneth 'Kenny' Urquhart 56 of Bedford, Nova Scotia recently passed away suddenly at home at the age of 56
.
Ken was predeceased by his parents, Rita Doreen (Myatt) and Elwood Sylvester Urquhart, and brother, Gary Urquhart.
Kenny was a well-loved and cherished member of his family. He is survived by, and was especially close with his sisters, Jannette Corbin (Philip) and Diane Durnford, and sister-in-law Ann Urquhart (Gary). He held a very special place in his heart for his many nieces and nephews and was especially close to his 11 great nieces and nephews, treating them like grandchildren. He put his family first and above all else, attending every holiday gathering, family event and service.
Kenny was employed for several years with Sameday Courier and will be remembered with fondness by his coworkers. His true passion in life was horse racing. He played a role in the Maritime horse industry for more than 35 years, with a history that goes back to the historic Sackville Downs. He spent the last several years as a well respected paddock judge at Truro Raceway, and is described by his coworkers as a tremendous teacher, a good listener, a team player and above all else, respectful and professional. He will be sorely missed by all who new and loved him.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 18 at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Ignatius Parish in Bedford (5 Bedford Street), with a private family interment, followed by a reception in the church hall.
