Foiled Again Leads Way To Indiana Derby
Foiled Again, a seven-year-old gelding who earlier this year became the oldest pacer to win $1 million in a season, is among 10 horses entered in Saturday’s $205,000 Indiana Pacing Derby at Indiana Downs
. Foiled Again, who was second to Bettor Sweet in last weekend’s Breeders Crown Open Pace, will start from post No. 4 with driver Yannick Gingras.
Trained by Ron Burke, Foiled Again has won 12 of 26 races this year and earned $1.21 million for owners Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and JJK Stables. His wins this season include the Quillen Memorial, the Molson Pace, the Graduate and the Battle of Lake Erie.
The Indiana Pacing Derby field also includes One More Laugh, Meirs Hanover, Fred And Ginger, Annieswesterncard, St Elmo Hero, Four Starz Trace, Atochia, Vintage Master and Freddyscooter.
In addition to the Indiana Pacing Derby, Indiana Downs hosts the $275,500 Monument Circle for three-year-old male pacers and the $231,500 Oliver Trotting Classic for three-year-old trotters.
The field for the Monument Circle is Townslight Hanover, Im Feeling Good, Rockem, Hes So Hot, Dutch Richman, Arockin Hanover, Hugadragon, Shadyshark Hanover, Mystic Desire, and High Noon.
The field for the Oliver Trotting Classic is Mr Web Page, Powerful Charger, The Lindy Reserve, Evil Urges, Winuendo, Leader Of The Gang, The Evictor, Ooga Booga, Live Jazz, and Dream Kid.
