It's Movember Madness
The Movember phenomenon has hit harness racing. This month, Trot Magazine has assembled a group of racing's most prominent faces to grow mustaches and raise vital funds and awareness for men's health
, specifically prostate cancer.
According to the Canadian Cancer Society, one in every two Canadians will develop cancer at some point in their lives. Prostate cancer has the highest incident of any cancer in Canadian men - as one in seven will faced with it in their lifetime - and also one of the highest mortality rates.
This year, your Trot team has challenged industry stars to step up to the plate. The Trot line-up includes Greg Blanchard, Chris Christoforou, Dan Fisher, John Gallinger, Jody Jamieson, Evan Loucks, Doug McNair, Paul MacDonell, Ken Middleton, Keith Oliver and Mike Saftic.
Weekly update photos will be posted on SC website to chart the growth with a vote at month's end to determine which 'stache was the best. To view the participants as of November 1, click the following link: Movember - Week 1

Men: Be sure to ask your doctor for a PSA during your next appointment. It does cost $25.00 but may be the best $25 you ever spent. Many group plans have coverage on such a test.
The profile of prostate cancer is changing to include a younger demographic. Men as young as 39 have been diagnosed.
Women: Please have a mammogram performed regularly. An oncologist once told me the speed at which young women are entering the profile is alarming.
