Incredible Ben Repeats In Batavia Open

Incredible Ben made it back-to-back Open wins when he surged down the stretch to win going away on Saturday night, Oct. 29 at Batavia Downs Casino

Leaving from Post 3, Incredible Ben, with regular pilot Jack Flanigen, got away fourth as New York Prime and John Cummings Jr. fired right to the top and crossed over to the front before an eighth of a mile.

Once on the lead, New York Prime rolled setting fractions of :27.3 and :56.4, but was under the whip pacing three-quarters in 1:25.4.

Around the final turn Incredible Ben was a locked in fourth, but was able to shake loose in the stretch, and with a rush roared down the center of the racetrack past the pocket-sitting Allamerican Improv (Jamie Dunlap), and finally New York Prime, to win by 1-1/4 lengths, in 1:55.

The four-year-old Electric Stena gelding was bred in Quebec by Normand and Roger Benjamin. It was the sixth win of the year for Incredible Ben, who returned $12. The Bobbi Jo Martin trainee is owned by John, Benjamin and Michael Curran of Red Hook, New York.

Racing will shift to a Wednesday, Friday and Saturday night schedule in November. The 2011 season will conclude on Dec. 3, with post time at 6:40 p.m., except for Nov. 5, when post time will be a 7:10 p.m.
