Preferred Romp For Secret Weapon

The betting public was all over Secret Weapon in Monday’s $15,000 Preferred at Western Fair Raceway, and the veteran had no problem disposing of the six foes he faced

With Scott Young at the lines, Secret Weapon tucked into the four-hole in the early stages of the mile while Monster In Law sprinted to the top and led them past the quarter pole in :27.1. He was still in charge at the mid-way point in :56.2, but Secret Weapon was out and driving as the field prepared for the move to the backstretch.

Secret Weapon worked his way to the lead on the outside at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.4, and his final quarter of :28.2 helped him win by 7-3/4 lengths over Monster In Law in an impressive clocking of 1:53.1. Allamerican Motive closed from far off the pace to finish third.

Sent off as the 8-5 favourite, Secret Weapon notched his second consecutive win for trainer Wayne Preszcator. The 46-time winner, who is owned by Secret Weapon Stables of Waterloo, ON, improved his 2011 record to 10-0-3 in 23 starts with the win while pushing his seasonal bankroll to $83,890. He has banked more than $537,000 to date.
