Sidecar Blue Chip Enjoying New Career

Sidecar Blue Chip, didn’t exactly set the world on fire as a racehorse, but she’s excelling in her second career as a riding horse

.

Previously trained by Casie Coleman, the now five-year-old daughter of Art Major only made four lifetime starts before being sent to the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society. Two years ago she was adopted by the Korten family of Appin, Ont. and she quickly adapted to her new vocation.

“Our daughter, Cassandra, spends much time with 'Blue,'” said Judy Korten. “Blue is doing very well with walk, trot, canter, and my daughter has also started jumping with her. Cassie also entered a couple local fairs this fall and Blue and Cass did amazing, placing in every class they entered including several first place finishes.”

Founded in 1996, the Ontario Standardbred Adoption Society is a charitable organization devoted to retraining and relocating retired harness horses. To date OSAS has placed more than 600 horses. For further information, please visit osas.ca.

Once again we are reminded of the versatility of the Standardbred breed. I love seeing (or hearing) a story like this.
