Entry Favoured In Freehold NJSS Final
Entrymates Dial Or Nodial and Fireintheshark, both with preliminary round victories, are rated the 2-1 morning line favourite in the $85,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings on Saturday, September 20 at Freehold Raceway.
The duo, both owned and bred by Arlene and Jules Siegel of New Hope, Pennsylvania, are from the barn of Jim Campbell.
Dial Or Nodial, a son of Western Ideal, won first and second round preliminaries of the four-week NJSS and captured the $175,000 NJSS final at the Meadowlands during a four-race winning streak this summer. He suffered his only loss, a fourth-place finish, in his last start in the Battle of Freehold on September 1.
Dave Palone will be at the lines when the colt, who leaves from Post 1, looks to add to his $136,805 bankroll.
Fireintheshark, driven by Jason Barlett, will start from Post 6. The son of Cams Card Shark has a record of two wins, one second and three thirds from nine starts for earnings of $52,402. He posted victories in the second and third rounds of the NJSS, taking a mark of 1:54.4.
The NJSS record for two-year-old pacing colts is 1:54.1 which was set by Genuwine in 2007. The gelding mark is 1:52.2 by Tiber Hanover was also established in 2007.
