"Biggest Thing To Happen To Us"

When it comes to mainstream sporting honours, it is very rare to see an equine haul down an accolade over a human athlete. Then again, Daylon Magician isn't your average horse

.

Off the strength of his 1:53 victory in Mohawk Racetrack's $1-million Canadian Trotting Classic this past weekend, Daylon Magician, David Lemon's three-year-old son of Kadabra, has earned A-Channel London's 'Athlete of the Week' status.

When speaking to Norm James during a video segment for A-Channel, Lemon, of Komoka, Ont., said that the success of his homebred has been a life changer.

"This is the biggest thing to happen to us in the horse business, or in our lives, I guess," he said.

During the piece, David's wife, Mary, stated that it has taken a good while to hit the jackpot in the horse business. "It has been many years to get this overnight success," she said.

"If he stays healthy and strong, which he seems to be, he can go on for a number of races."

Daylon Magician -- this horse puts the 'MAGIC' back into horseracing for me - he's awesome.

Congratulations on your success story, and also some well deserved recognition to driver Jack Moiseyev on a winning drive - what a TEAM!

I've always believed that 3 year olds are at their peak, and the Magician just proved it for me.

Enjoy the thrill of winning by Magic!

Mary and Dave,
Your success is so well deserved as one of Canada's leading breeders and now to breed, train, and race a horse of this caliber--what an accomplishment. Congratulations again and all the best going forward.

One of the biggest mistakes racing makes is it promotes the drivers/jockeys when they should be promoting the horse. People came to the track to see SomeBeachSomeWhere. Ask the casual fan if they know who Zenyatta is and then ask who the jockey was.
