NBA's Jefferson Big Into Racing
Richard Jefferson has had a solid career in the National Basketball Association. He's represented his country abroad on multiple occasions and has averaged over 16 points per game in his career. But when the San Antonio Spurs' forward isn't plying his trade on the hard court, he's taking a close look at some of the equine world's top performers.
The National Thoroughbred Racing Association recently caught up with Jefferson and picked his brain on all things racing. If you thought that Jefferson would offer up some run-of-the-mill answers, you were way off.
When asked what he would like to see less of in racing, Jefferson stated that he believes the game should do away with year-round racing.
He also said that his favourite thoroughbred racing event is opening day at Del Mar. He cited hitting the superfecta on opening day at Del Mar as his personal best moment in the sport of thoroughbred racing, and said that he was exposed to the game after having gone to Turf Paradise with friends years ago.
