Romanie Ranger Delivers At Inverness

Romanie Ranger, the 2-1 favourite, delivered on his pari-mutuel promise with a wire-to-wire effort in the featured $1,000 Winners Over Pace at Inverness Raceway on Sunday afternoon

Owner-driver Raymond Deagle directed the son of As Promised past fractions of :31, 1:02.4 and 1:32 en route to the 2:00.4 triumph. A runner-up in his three previous starts, Romanie Ranger prevailed for the fifth time in 29 starts this year. Macnamarra (Doug MacQuarrie) finished three-quarters of a length behind with Havana Dream (Alex MacQuarrie) two and a half lengths behind in third.

Lloyd McLean trains the winning four-year-old, who returned $6 to his backers.
