See You At Peelers Headlines NYSS
See You At Peelers will look to get back to her winning ways on Monday when she races in a division of the New York Sire Stakes at Yonkers Raceway
.
The three-year-old filly pacer won the first 22 races of her career before finishing sixth in the Nadia Lobell at The Meadows on August 29 and being first-placed-second in a division of the New York Sire Stakes at Tioga Downs six days later.
Following the start at Tioga Downs, trainer Jimmy Takter had See You At Peelers examined at Cornell University to make sure the filly was completely healthy.
“Everything checked out OK,” Takter said. “I think she just got drained. She shipped to The Meadows and then she shipped to Tioga, just in six days, and I think she was just tired a little bit. Hopefully she’ll rebound.”
See You At Peelers’ 22-race win streak was harness racing’s fourth longest in the U.S. over the last 20 years and done against primarily stakes competition. She has earned $1.49 million during her career and is $395,215 shy of harness racing’s record for a filly pacer in her combined two and three-year-old seasons, set by Put On A Show in 2009-10.
In the Nadia Lobell, See You At Peelers started the race from the extreme outside post position, No. 9, and set the fractions of :26.1 for the opening quarter-mile, :53.1 to the half, and 1:21.1 at three-quarters. Idyllic won the race in a track-record 1:50.
Horses win at a 6.4 per cent clip from post nine at The Meadows; posts one through seven all have win marks of at least 10.7 per cent.
See You At Peelers will start Monday’s race at Yonkers from post three. To her inside are Park Lane Heather and Tea Party Princess while to her outside are Asteria Blue Chip, Song In A Major, Hazes Zure Bet, Mad World, and Crazy Luv Bug.
