Hat Trick For Andover America
Since his relocation to Ontario, Andover America has continued to master the art of winning races
. He moved up to the Open class on Tuesday evening at Mohawk Racetrack following back-to-back scores at the Preferred level, and despite the talent pool getting deeper he had no problem pushing his winning streak to three-in-a-row for Team Baillargeon.
Mario Baillargeon got away sixth with Andover America while Cantab Hall sprinted to the lead and threw down a :28-second opener. It was a short-lived stint on the lead for that one, though, as race favourite Define The World pocket pulled on that foe and swapped roles with him at the three-eighths pole. Define The World controlled the tempo through middle fractions of :56.4 and 1:25 before bearing off the rail in deep stretch.
That allowed Baillargeon and Andover America, who were sitting fifth at the three-quarter pole, to sprint up the cones in :26.4 en route to posting the 2-1/4 length win over Define The World. Jersey AS closed well to finish third in the $50,000 tilt. The mile was timed in 1:53.
Mc Trade Enterprises Inc of Davie, FL owns the six-year-old altered son of Andover Hall-Armbro Array, who pulled off the 5-1 upset in the nine-horse affair. The 38-time winner, who went 18-for-33 last season, improved this year’s record to 9-5-3 in 20 starts with the victory. The $25,000 payday boosted his overall earnings to $412,921.
