Alexandre Provost, owner of French superstar Rapide Lebel, believes he has one of the fastest trotters in the world and has accepted an invitation to prove his case in the $600,000 Breeders Crown Trot

at Woodbine Racetrack, on Sat. Oct. 29.

The six-year-old altered son of Ginger Somolli-Kornaie des Noes has won several Group 1 races, a condition of the Breeders Crown invitation. Up to two foreign trotters may be invited to compete in the race. At this time, Rapide Lebel is the only horse to be invited. After winning his last start in Belgium, Rapide Lebel has committed to the Åbys Stora Pris at Aby Racetrack in Molndal, Sweden on Sept. 17. A win in that event secures overall victory in the European Grand Circuit standings for Rapide Lebel, leaving the month of October open for travel to Canada.

Rapide Lebel winning in 1:51.4f

Rapide Lebel will challenge San Pail, the top-ranked horse in North America in the Hambletonian Society/Breeders Crown Standardbred Poll. The Canadian owned-trained and bred trotter recently won his third consecutive Maple Leaf Trot title in a lifetime record of 1:51.1, his 43rd win in 101 lifetime starts. The seven-year-old gelding has been voted Older Trotter of the Year in Canada in 2009 and 2010 and now boasts a $2,295,215 bankroll.

Great stuff...Chomping at the bit, and can't wait...but don't underestimate the European horses or drivers. Raffin has his feet out and has the lines in one hand AFTER CROSSING THE FINISH LINE and in a gesture of triumphant joy. Let's cheer for the home team, but give others the respect they are due, just as San Pail would get if he ever ventures across the ocean. It takes courage for these connections to make such a difficult trip. I hope they do themselves proud.

He will definately have to read the driving rules! May the best horse win! Great for the sport. Go San Pail!

Pails the best. This will be a great race but im saying San Pail all the way

PAIL will hold a HUGE advantage on his home track and Randy is sure to move early and play "come and get me". Good Rapide Lobell is coming. When PAIL beats him, it will make Horse Of The Year in North America a lock.

If the driver in the picture, Eric Raffin, comes here to drive there'll be no problem beating this horse! He'd be DQ'd, placed last and fined big time for the lines in one hand and the foot out of the stirrups thing!

Go San Pail
