Sophs Spar On PA Fair Circuit
The PA Fair Circuit went under the lights for the first time this season, with a 15-race card at the York Fairgrounds featuring sophomores in stake action
.
Steve Schoeffel picked up four driving victories on the card, while Roger Hammer added three.
Sapphire City, trained and reined by Todd Schadel, posted the night’s fastest mile, pacing in 2:00 flat to win a PA Sire Stake three-year-old colt pace. The Metropolitan colt, owned by Schadel and Hammer, won for just the second time this season in 18 starts, and is now 1-for-3 on the fair circuit in 2011.
Cadence Hall posted the night’s fastest trotting mile, timed in 2:03.2 in a division of the PASS sophomore colt trot. Steve Schoeffel catch-drove for owner Susan Daugherty and trainer Bill Daugherty, Jr. Cadence Hall is a son of Chip Chip Hooray, and has now won half of his 20 starts on the year.
Action at York will continue on Tuesday morning at 10:30, with 15 stakes for freshman slated.
