According to a report, officials with The Cordish Companies have given an update in regard to the multi-million dollar Woodbine Live! expansion planned for Woodbine

Racetrack.

An article by The Toronto Star has cited Cordish as telling the City of Toronto that it is hoping to break ground for the Phase 1 of the project in early 2012.

“We had two projects that were significantly stalled by the recession of 2008-2009 and that was Woodbine Live! and MaRS Phase 2 (downtown Toronto medical research complex),” Toronto’s general manager of economic development Mike Williams was quoted as saying. “It was just announced that MaRS Phase 2 will be restarted and I’m hopeful that Woodbine Live! will be soon after.”

When asked when construction would be starting, Nick Eaves, the Woodbine Entertainment Group's chief executive officer, was quoted as saying, “It’s a bit difficult to say at the moment,” although his organization is, "hard at it."
