Warkentin To Hanover; Post Time Change
Hanover Raceway's 2011 season will end this Saturday (September 3) with the Ontario Sires Stakes, as 51 two-year-old pacing fillies will hit the track
and will be competing for $168,000 in purse money.
The track has announced that because of the stakes taking place not only at Hanover but at other tracks this weekend, Hanover applied for, and was subsequently approved for, an increase in its number of races on Saturday to 14.
The track's general manager, Gord Dougan, has said it would have been tough for local horsemen to get in to race that week, so race secretary Randy Rier suggested that the number of races should be increased.
In order to accommodate the increased amount of races, Hanover has also moved its first-race post time to 6:45 p.m.
Also, Hanover will have a special guest announcer on Saturday. The Meadowlands Racetrack's Ken Warkentin will take over the microphone and will also will help with the awarding of the track's season-ending awards. He will also sit down for a short autograph and meet-and-great session.
