Dream Of Winning Delivers In PASS

Just a few races before her half-sister Idyllic snapped See You At Peelers’ 22-race win streak, Dream Of Winning showed that talent in the family runs deep; she romped home by eight lengths in a division of a $140,000 Pennsylvania Stallion Series event at The Meadows

.

The stake for freshman filly pacers was conducted over seven divisions, with Southwind Johanne, Kiss Dont Bite, One Nights Desire, Malita Island, Heathers Delight and Western Drag taking the other splits. Brett Miller enjoyed a stake driving double with Malita Island and Western Drag.

Dream Of Winning (Yankee Cruiser) and Idyllic (American Ideal) are out of the Magical Mike mare Magical Dreamer. Monday, the youngster flashed some of her sib’s style as she blew away the field in 1:54.2 for Brian Zendt, matching the stake record set by Blue Moon Artist in 2009. Bella Sophia was second, with Ashlees Wedding third.

“She always did everything so easy, but I never thought she’d be this good,” said winning trainer Aaron Johnston of his $5,000 yearling purchase. “I don’t know what they didn’t like about her at the auction, but they didn’t like something. Next year we’ll bring her back early and get her ready for the big stakes.”

Debra Schoeffel, Thomas Taylor, Brooke Dumont and Wayne Kiebler own Dream Of Winning, who has taken three straight in the stallion series.

Southwind Johanne lost her first three lifetime outings but ripped off wins in the next three — all stallion series splits. In Monday’s stake, she moved to the lead before the half for Dave Palone and scored a comfortable 1-1/2-length victory over Lotta Drama in 1:54.3. Paresian was third.

“This obviously is a good level for her, but we had a bit of a slow start with her,” said Mark Harder, who trains the daughter of Dragon Again-Juliets Fate and owns with Rick Phillips. “I thought earlier in the year she could be with the better fillies. A couple of hiccups, sickness early on, so we are we where are now. But she’s eligible for quite a few stakes later on. If she picks her game up, we’ll go a couple other places.”

In only her second career start, Kiss Dont Bite raced impressively, with a two-move win from post eight, and scored in 1:55 for James Rattray. Early leader Sharkist Breeze was second, 5-1/4 lengths in arrears, while the first-over Upfront Secret was third.

Tom Shay trains the daughter of Four Starzzz Shark-Kiss Me Once again for HDS Stable, In The Red LLC, Bruce Warren and David Schwartz.

“She was a little tough to get going, but she’s learned to come along good now,” Shay said. “She tries hard and has lots of ability. If she puts it together, she’ll be okay.”
