Laying her perfect 22-race win streak on the line in the $193,150 Nadia Lobell from the outside post position amidst of field of nine three-year-old pacing fillies, See You At Peelers was defeated by Idyllic in a shocker at The Meadows on Monday afternoon

.

Heavy 1-5 favourite See You At Peelers and driver Marcus Johansson blasted to command off the gate and carved out brisk fractions of :26.1, :53.1 and 1:21.1 with Idyllic and David Miller advancing first up from fifth. The daughter of American Ideal-Magical Dreamer, who was within reach of 'Peelers' around the final turn, soared past the tiring pacesetter in the stretch to score the 1:50 track record triumph. Myluvmylife (Brian Sears) finished second off a pocket trip and Swinging Beauty (Doug McNair) was third.

See You At Peelers finished sixth in her first ever career loss.

"She raced unbelievably good," said Miller of his filly. "Last week [in the Valley Forge at Harrah's Chester] I got away third and made the same move and she wasn't wasn't there. My filly was much better today. With [See You At Peelers starting from] the outside post and [trainer Ron] Burke had three of them in there I wasn't sure what was going to happen, but I didn't think it would be easy."

Idyllic, Canada's 2010 Two-Year-Old Pacing Filly of the Year, has hit the board in all eight of her prior starts this season while chasing after See You At Peelers. She paid $12 to win for the 5-1 upset. Casie Coleman trains the millionairess for the West Wins Stable of Cambridge, Ont., Michael La Cova and Joseph Lacova of West Islip, New York, and John Campagnuolo of Loxahatchee, Florida.

"It's our turn. That's an amazing horse and to beat her is an amazing thing," continued Miller. "She's been right there with 'Peelers' every week. I was surprised that she beat her and I was really surprised with the way she did it."

Miller said he appreciates the impact of See You At Peelers on harness racing but savours the victory nonetheless.

“'Peelers' was great for our sport; we needed a superstar, and she definitely filled the bill,” said Miller. “But it was nice for us because we’ve been second and third to her all year long. It’s finally nice to get around her.”

Marcus Johansson, who drove See You At Peelers, said the champion did not feel right to him from the outset.

“She acted a little strange today,” said Johansson. “She grabbed on a little more than she usually does. That’s not like her, and the results showed it. I don’t want to make any excuses, but I’m pretty sure something was wrong with her today.”

He said trainer Jimmy Takter will give See You At Peelers a complete medical work-up but that he expects her to bounce back to top form.

“You always know it’s going to happen, but of course, I’m disappointed," Johansson said. “I’m disappointed for the fans. A lot of them showed up to root for her. She’ll come back. She’s a world champion, and she’s the best horse in the country. I’ll stand by that.”

During her remarkable streak, the daughter of Bettors Delight-West Side Glory banked more than $1.4 million for owners Christina Takter of New Jersey, and John Fielding and Jim Fielding of Toronto, Ont. She was the 2010 U.S. divisional champion and is the leading candidate for 2011 Horse of the Year.

Maybe she needs a rest. She sure ran like a tired filly. Regardless, I still love her alot

With all due respect to Roger Huston its comical calling See You at Peelers loss the "upset of the century." Moreover, half of See you at Peelers wins are against NY sires stakes competion where she can set leisure fractions in short 6 or 7 horse fields. Today she backed through the field when pressured. Calling her loss the "upset of the century" is a huge stretch.

The key to,"See You At Peelers", defeat is the 2nd fraction. She had to battle for the lead thru what was nearly a fast opening split. That effort over-heated her and the driver was unable to ,"rate", her thru the 2nd fraction. "See You At Peelers", putting in a ridiculously fast 2nd fraction, and a very hot half mile.
